The Marquis is a
French-influenced fine dining restaurant and bar at 13 Gouger Street. Merkel and Myrtle visted there before
attending a performance of the Kransky Sisters at the Royalty Theatre during
the Fringe. It is next to the St
Louis House of Fine Ice Cream which would have been the destination had it
not been so crowded. The Marquis is
dimly lit and has an impressive wine selection arranged on the wall that
separates the bar and the restaurant.
The hot chocolate came in white ceramic mug on a red
Vittoria saucer. It was topped with a
white froth and sprinkle of chocolate powder.
This was a creamy drink but not chocolaty enough. The cost was $4.00. The hot chocolate next door at St Louis House of Fine Ice Cream is better.
